Support and FAQ

The questions people actually ask, answered plainly.

Which version of InDesign do I need?

Adobe InDesign 2026, on macOS or Windows.

What happens when InDesign 2027 comes out?

DriveSync will be updated to support it, and the update is free while your licence is active. Adobe releases a new InDesign roughly once a year, and keeping pace with that is part of what a subscription buys.

Does it work with InDesign 2024 or 2025?

Not currently. DriveSync is built for InDesign 2026.

Will it change my styles?

No. That is the entire point of the product. DriveSync updates the words and leaves paragraph styles, character styles, local overrides and spacing alone.

What happens to images?

They arrive on the first sync and are then left alone, so later text updates never move or duplicate them. You can also turn image import off and place artwork yourself.

Can two people sync the same document at once?

DriveSync is not a collaborative editor. Two designers working on the same InDesign file have the same conflicts they would have without it — InDesign, not DriveSync, decides that.

Can I use it on my laptop as well as my desktop?

Yes. Every licence includes more than one seat, and you can move a seat between machines yourself.

What if my licence expires mid-project?

The text already in your document is ordinary InDesign text and is unaffected. You simply cannot sync again until you renew.

My browser is signed in to two Google accounts and the picker shows the wrong Drive.

Google’s file picker follows your browser’s default account. Sign out of the others, or use the switch-account link DriveSync shows, then try again.

Getting help

Write to gdsoftwares@thedrivesync.com. One address for everything — trials, licences, bugs, and questions about whether DriveSync will cope with a particular document.

We answer within one working day, Monday to Friday. A real answer, not an acknowledgement that one is coming. If something is broken rather than confusing, say so in the subject line and it goes to the front of the queue.

Include the Installation ID from DriveSync About DriveSync… It identifies your computer exactly and saves a round of questions.

If a sync went wrong, the two other things worth sending are the InDesign version you are on and, if you can, the Google Doc itself — or a copy of it with the sensitive parts removed. Most reports that take a week to resolve take that long because we are guessing at the document.

Try it on the document that is annoying you most

Fourteen days, every feature, no card required. If DriveSync cannot hold your styling on a real job, you will know within an afternoon.
